The digitally animated elements and graphics are based on a previously created series of analogue prints on paper: abstract forms emerge from a freely drawn line, which is why the forms can also be regarded as drawings. They only experience their unifying composition through an experimental high-pressure process.
The animation shows the “searching” and “finding” process of creating a composition as on paper. Rosa Rupp says of her work: “Through the movements one can observe a new interplay of forms at every moment, as I experience it myself in the creation of an image when drawing on paper. Light enables me to intensify this purely aesthetic experience by making the drawing or composition expansive. In the character of endlessness, the drawing line and the light beam are potentially equal. With light I designate spaces; at the same time the drawing becomes frameless, spaceless, boundless.”
